Free Bird House Plan

Free Bird House Plan

Free Bird House PlanEver since man has learned to cultivate, clear forests, and establish territory, the natural habitat of birds and animals are hampered to a great extent. Especially in the last century, the natural homes of animals and birds have largely modified. Due to the massive change in the geographical distribution of the birds, the bird species that were originally found in the desert regions have now settled in some other parts of the globe while those commonly seen in the marshy regions have found shelter in the flooded agricultural fields. To conserve the bird species the following free birdhouse plan would help you to build a nice birdhouse.

The worst victims of the rapid change in the environment are the birds that live in tree cavities. The old trees with cavities are cut down to make space for agriculture. Hence, some birds find great difficulty in selecting a safe house, especially the ones who are not able to compete with other stronger species of birds that prefer to live in tree holes.

Free Bird House PlanNot all birds build their own nest and they can readily accept natural tree holes as well as man-made birdhouses for breeding. As long as the house is secure and comfortable to live in, birds can reside inside a birdhouse constructed by human beings. Bird houses can be constructed in a variety of designs. You can easily get free birdhouse plans on the internet as well.

A Free Birdhouse Plan

If you are a nature lover or you have a friend who loves to watch birds and you are willing to present him or her with a nice gift, you may try out building a simple but nice birdhouse with the help of the following free birdhouse plan.

Take 1/2″ or 1/4″ plywood, hammer, 1/2″ nails, glue, saw, 5″ of the dowel, 3″ perch bird, & waterproof glue. There would be 1/2″ size of plywood for two bottoms and two inside supports, 1/4″ size of plywood for the roof section, front, and back sections.

  • At first tap, the nails at the joint positions then glue them. Make sure that you glue the two bottom-side wood pieces well.
  • Glue the back side of the bottom part of the wood as well.
  • Glue the inside wood supports.
  • Drill small holes in each section of the house, towards the corner with the help of a 1 3/8 hole saw.
  • 1/4″ bit to drill for a dowel perch.
  • Sand the corners and the inside walls of the house very smoothly before you nail the front part of the house.
  • Glue and nail the front part.
  • Now fix the roof to the edges of the walls of the house. Make sure that the roof overhangs properly.
  • Apply a 5” dowel in the channel between the two roof sections.

To make the house for the bird look beautiful you may coat the outer walls with non-toxic paint. Give finishing touches with a nontoxic outdoor sealer.
